TeenLatinitas.com, the first digital magazine by and for Latina youth, is currently accepting applications for high school editor internships. This national award-winning online magazine is currently recruiting female teens to serve as magazine interns to complete writing, editing and multimedia projects. Latinitas is a dedicated to being a strong voice for young Latinas, telling the stories of our community and serving as a forum for self-expression. Editors commit to a semester-long internship dedicating a minimum of 5-10 hours per week. Youth editors are selected through an application process that includes an application form, writing samples and an interview. If you are interested in a career in media or journalism, want to build your writing skills, want to make a difference and want to get published, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. Teen Leadership Institute - Application Deadline October 4th Young women interested in developing their leadership skills are invited to apply for the Teen Latinitas Leadership Institute. The institute will consist of monthly workshops on leadership methods, decision making skills, goal setting, public speaking, civic engagement and volunteering. This leadership program is aimed at encouraging and motivating teenage girls to make a difference in their community through leadership, civic engagement, communications, social justice, advocacy and volunteerism. Young women will also engage in several interactive and entertaining activities that will help them identify and cultivate their own leadership abilities. Participants will attend monthly classes, go on field trips, meet positive female role models, learn about their cultural heritage, discover new ways to build confidence and explore their own strengths. The institute is organized by Latinitas, a nonprofit dedicated to the empowerment and advancement of Latina youth. The program will run throughout the school year leading up to a graduation ceremony in the Spring. Membership is open to Hispanic high school girls in grades 9-12. Space is limited. The deadline to submit completed applications is October 4tg. Members must be willing to commit to attending the kick-off retreat on October 16th and participating in monthly workshops held on Saturdays. The Institute membership fee is $25 per year and covers supplies for monthly workshops. A limited number of scholarships are available on a need basis.
